James 2:2-4
As Teachers it is our duty to treat all students with the same care and compassion. This does not mean that we must treat them all exactly alike, as they are still individuals with individual needs, but we must not let appearances, personalities, economic status cloud our judgment. It is the challenge of the human experience to not pre-judge a person or situation. It has become our culture and practice to base ones value on the clothes they wear, the car they drive, the people they are friends with. It is my goal as a person and a teacher to always look beyond the material things and see people for who they are. It is easy for a teacher to help the student that is trying hard, that always comes to class and is always pleasant. However, we must help all students especially those that present a challenge, the student who doesn't come to class prepared, who is perpetually late, who needs special academic considerations. We must not tell them to "Sit on the floor by my feet".
