Week 4 Entry

I do agree that in order to fully embrace all that the world has to offer we must be whole. In order to be whole human beings we must embrace ourselves and love ourselves unconditionally. We must see ourselves as great things. This is not in terms of being greater than God, but rather being created by God and therefore great. We must see all of our flaws as gifts from God meant to help teach us to accept the flaws in our fellow human beings. Not one of us is without sin or flaw, or failure and we must treat each other just as we would want others to treat us at our moments of weakness. I think that as teachers we must help students to see their true potential regardless of the obstacles or shortcomings they perceive in themselves. I do not think that Palmer is at odds with scripture. I do not think that the Palmer means that we are to view ourselves as the end all be all of great things, but rather to embrace the concept that only when we are whole and come from an undivided heart are we truly able to see the greatness of the world. For me personally the greatest thing in this world is love and that love and out of love come forgiveness and understanding. If we do not forgive and understand ourselves we cannot forgive and understand others.
